  1. Been a fan of Tyler since the beginning and the good old days of Lexington KY. Unpopular opinion: His voice will always be SPOT ON, but this song and the last album is too production focused. When Sturgill picked him up and he started playing with the full band all the time, it just didn't hit the same anymore. Theres something to be said about Tyler and just his acoustic guitar. If I had never heard his younger days material and only had been exposed to "Purgatory" and forward I wouldn't have anything to complain about.

  2. Im gonna sound like one of them typical youtube comments but this song was dropped exactly a year after my grandpa died and he was the best man I knew. He kept my family together and in church and would do anything for my grandma. I think he would've liked this song.

  3. I'd love to hear you cover some grunge in the future Tyler! Rooster, Say Hello To Heaven, Call Me A Dog, Hunger Strike, Leadbelly's Where did you sleep last night reinvented by Nirvana. You have the perfect range and gravel to do those songs justice!

  4. Between YouTube and Pandora I think I've listened to this song 70 times in the last 48 hours. The second verse reminds me of my grandmother. The third verse resonates with me on a profound level. Truly the most beautifully written, arranged and performed song I've ever heard.
You outdid yourself Tyler! I'm looking forward to hearing the whole album and seeing you perform live one day!

  5. For those of us raised in the Southeast, Deep South, or Appalachia, this song hits the soul. Our mamas and grandmamas kept us in church every time the doors cracked open. Many of us drifted away from church in our adult hood, but this song takes me back to 12 years old immediately like time travel.

  6. Being from very nearby where Tyler was raised, his music has always struck a chord with me. This song? I needed this probably as much as he did. This one hit home in a whole different way. When a song hits you like this one does, you know God was involved. @Jarrett Lutz "5 miles deep inside his soul" was just about as perfect a description as I have ever heard.

  7. Absolutely incredible! Tyler’s songs have such an immersive quality. They just make you forget about everything going on around you. I’ve personally never had these types of musical experiences with any other artist. Tyler is on a whole other level and we’re so lucky to have him!
