MONOPOLY SONG LYRICS – Ariana Grande & Victoria Monét
“Monopoly” was released by Republic Records on the first of April 2019. Its music video was published on the same day on YouTube.
Victoria Monét and Ariana Grande co-wrote most tracks of the latter’s fifth album, including such hits as “thank u, next” and “7 rings”. In particular, the line “Even though we gave up that 90% for the win, go” is a reference to Ariana Grande’s song “7 rings” which sampled “My Favorite Things” from “The Sound of Music” film. The 90% of songwriting royalties belong to the estate of Rodgers and Hammerstein, the authors of the original song.
