Vishnu Sahasranama (विष्णुसहस्रनाम), Thousand Names of Lord Vishnu, and is found in section 13.135 (Anushasana Parva) of the Mahabharata, the Padma Purana, the Skanda Purana and the Garuda Purana.
The names were handed down to Yudhishthira by the famous warrior Bhishma who was on his death bed in the battlefield of Kurukshetra.
The whole universe of the Gods, Asuras and Gandharvas is under the sway of Lord Vishnu. Chanting Vishnu Sahastranam with devotion & sincerity will ensure relief from sorrows & bondage. The person who recites is not the only one who benefits, but also those who for whatever reason are unable to chant benefit by just hearing the chanting as well.
