  1. 'Bulla Ki Jana’ is all about us not knowing who we are, of thinking of life in terms of boxes, until we are enlightened. And then, you realise how meaninglessly you've compartmentalised life. During this journey as captured in the poem, the poet rids himself from all of the trappings and social bindings.

    The very first verse of this poem is missing in most of the versions on the web and on youtube:-
    Chal Bhulleya, chal oathay chaliay, Jithay saaray Annaiy
    Na Koi saadi zaat pachaanay, te naa koi saanu Mannay

    Translation:
    I want to go where people do not care about (or seemingly blind to) my social status.
    No one cares what my caste is, (nor my tribe), and people will not bow to me just because I come from a privileged background.

    Then the rest of the poem makes sense as it focuses on personal quest and spiritual journey of self-enlightenment.

    Bhulleh Shah, I am searching, I am looking within my soul, who am I in reality. In this search of self- enlightenment, I don't want to pretend to be a pious Mullah in the mosque. I don't care what people say about Non-Muslim traditions and customs. Nor I pretend to be the purest while looking down at others and unclean. I don't want to be Moses (prophet of Israelis) nor I want to be Pharaoh (who enslaved the same Israelis). Oh Bulleh Shah, I am still in search of self-enlightenment. The same theme repeats over and over and Bhulleh shah tries to break away and break open all of the superficial standards of being pure and being good.

    With reference to translating Nadaun, it is a town in which he stayed for a while. The town is located in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. Nadaun here is related to the water, people seeking lord go to ganges, and many pilgrim rivers to bath to wash off sins, so Bulleh was explaining that lord is not in holy waters or rivers.

  12. He has distorted the beautiful poetry. I am not trying to demean or belittle him Shergill. He is really good. But I would still prefer the original poetry from Bulleh Shah and the rendition from Iqbal Bahu.

  19. Bulla Shaha was not a Religious person. He was Spritual enlightened Devine. That's why he was not referring himself anything. He was beyond the boundaries of believing. When Sprituality becomes Religion for everyone then all the discrimination and fight will end which happens in the name of Hindu, Muslim, Christian, etc.. Sprituality gives u freedom to find god in your own way. No need to become slave of Religious principal which develops in form of ego inside everyone. We will just become piece of life…

  20. Why no comments no susbrice and no like…??it's all because he sang the very meanifull song ..that touch every human beings hearts in this living world ..for me it's my favourite song ever…I love it and I like it much though others don't like it.
