Back in Time

The documentary film Back in Time is, at its heart, a look at the very real impact the Back to the Future movies have had on our culture. What was once a little idea that spawned a tightly-focused documentary has grown into something truly amazing over two years of filming. Back in Time is a cinematic monument to the vastness of the trilogy’s fandom. In addition to the footage and interviews revolving around the time machine itself, the crew found that simply by delving into the impact of the trilogy an epic journey began to unfold before them. The crew captured countless hours of footage during filming. From Steven Spielberg to Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, to the Sheas and Hollers, and from James Tolkan and Lea Thompson to Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox, Back in Time features interview after interview that simply must be seen.

  1. The ensemble acting was probably the best I've ever seen in any film. And what kid doesn't sometimes wish he could fix his parents, and so make his/her own life better?

  2. They claim here "there's nothing like (this movie)". I disagree – I believe "Peggy Sue Got Married" is very, very close to the plot of "Back to the Future" (though I don't believe there was plagiarism).

  3. 35 years later and it's STILL my favorite movie of all time. Everyone who knows me can answer the question what my favorite movie of all time is.

  4. I Hated everything about all these movies. Hated the actors, I Hated that Stupid ASS Car. Everything about the WRITTERS, The Director's. It had no moral's no concept, no reason for it to be put on a cartoon drawing, let alone all these BTTF. HAD I BEEN GOD I'D DESTROY IT BEFORE IT EVER GOT STARTED..!!!

  5. I think the best part of this video has to be at 1:31:35. The Rick n Morty guy, when asked how he would use the time machine, says that he'd like to visit the 1920s for several reasons, but most notably that he'd "get to wear a hat." He follows this up with, "I could probably wear a hat now, but, uh, it makes me nervous." I'm exceedingly glad that I stuck around to hear that little nugget of comedy.

  6. The 80's were THE best time of my life and I agree women were very beautiful in that era. They weren't all tatted up with face piercings like so many are today.

  7. BTTF was the first movie we watched when we got our first VCR in 1987 … i can still remember my family setting up the VCR and the video playing and it being all staticy cause they didnt know to set the TV to channel 4 and had it set to channel 3

  8. Dan Harmon was the most annoying part of this documentary for me. Almost everything he said felt completely disconnected from the movies actual spirit. This film certainly seemed to get sidetracked often but still offered some interesting info. Unfortunately no Biff or George interviews leave it feeling a bit empty.
